While doing some research for another post (on immigration, hey go figure) I ran across an interesting article over on “Rasmussen Reports”. The article insinuates that if you thought the 2000 elections were a nightmare; “You ain’t heard nothing yet.” I am a proponent of third party candidates especially since I think the majority of elected and wannabe legislators in the current Big Two Party System were a complete waste of their mommies’ eggs and their daddies’ sperm. I know it is hard to believe, but yes, in all probability most Republican and Democrat Politicians started just like the rest of us – with a mommy and a daddy (even those like Ted Kennedy whom are rumored to have been born as Satan’s Spawn. Actually that one I personally believe is probably true, but I have no way to prove it so I am forced to give him the benefit of the doubt.) Anyway enough blathering for the moment, back to the post. The article was talking about the problems the author foresaw with the possible Michael Bloomberg candidacy for President. Now I had not really given it much thought and was just writing off the likelihood as another Ross Perot or John Anderson (NO – not that former mayoral candidate guy from Silvis that posts on the Dispatch/Argus message boards. And NO-NO-NO not the country & western singer that had the smash hit Swinging. You know the one. He was a Republican back in the 80’s that wanted to be President but went Independent as he could not win the Republican nomination. Yea, SEE that’s the guy!!). Now if the Independency Candidate follows past results he would probably not make much of an electoral effect. But the post went on to talk about how Bloomberg might spend as much as a Billion dollars to win the Presidency. Now that might not win him many votes during a normal run for the Presidency, but there is a growing discontent amongst voters from both of the Big Two Party regular rubber-stamping voting sheep. And at this point in election history the states’ electoral votes are pretty well split between Democrats and Republicans. My first thoughts were a Bloomberg candidacy would probably give the Democrat Sheep Party the electoral edge needed to defeat the Republican Sheep Party. Well according to the article a much more insidious and entertaining (at least to some of us) outcome could be the actual result. If you add Bloomberg to the mix, according to the article, the electoral vote could be so split that the final selection might end up in the Congress. Once again you say, well theScoundrel will that not give the Democrats the edge they need to control all three houses. Well that was my thought but the article says I might be wrong. It goes on to explain the way the house would have to vote on the matter and it explains how the vote would be so close in the system of election rules that the vote could become deliciously chaotic and interesting during the selection. The article is a must read. Shoot-Fire the Bush-Gore election chaos would look simple to the prospects laid out in the Rasmussen article. Just the thought of all those lying, scheming and plotting politicians and puppet masters and all those millions upon millions of dollars spent to seduce the voting sheep and yet it could come down to no one winning the general election with a Bloomberg candidacy in the mix, leaves me ROFLMAO. Bring him on Baby!!!
