The Rah-Rah-Rah Sis-Boom-Bah post

Like a lot of Bloggers much of my material space is spent on bitch and whine posts. Tonight I thought I would do a rah-rah-rah sis-boom-bah post.

As I was all stretched out relaxing and lounging on Big Green chugging Mt. Dew and chomping down peanuts and while basking in the celebration of another Cubs victory the other night, sadly Big Green tore a hammy. Well Big Green is over a decade old and my first thoughts were I might be forced to put it down as the repair would probably be well towards the cost of a brand new companion. So I spent a few days in distress knowing that the devastating injury would not correct itself, but the thought of taking Big Green out back and putting it out of its misery then offering up the remains in a blazing smoky sacrificial funeral pyre left my body feeling soulless and my mind numb. So I finally forced myself to proffer a plea to Big Greens creator and was promptly prophesied potential resurrection possibilities. The thought of a continued existence for my decade old companion elated my spirit and created a feeling of euphoria within my troubled soul. And today as I shared my sorrow and shattered spirit with Big Green’s creator I was reminded why I chose Big Green as my faithful companion over a decade ago. Big Green’s creator, LazBoy, fulfilled the pledge made by their prophets over a decade ago by assuring me that the cost of parts for repair would be no out of pocket expense as they placed the order for Big Green’s hamstring replacement. I was overjoyed with jubilation when they informed me that the parts would be here in less than two months in time for the start of Da Bears Football season and if fortune and destiny consents, a Chicago Cubs postseason. Oh happy days, my faith in the extra financial commitment to the purchase of LazBoy action recliner chairs with action parts guaranteed for life was vindicated. I am excited that no funeral pyres are now necessary and that soon Big Green, my LazBoy rocker-recliner will be faithfully providing me support while I participate in songs of Cubs and Bears triumphs! Yee haw!

Twisted Evolutions

I have been kind of busy with scoundrel concerns and have not been blogging much. Still I managed some free time and while I was scouring the Internet blogs for news I came across a couple of posts about an incident that left my head shaking. I am not a fan of hate crime laws. Hate crime laws are like most other Dr. Feelgood legislation, they started out as a crusade for justice, that has started to develop into a warped evolution of it’s intent. Such is the latest case where a young man has been arrested and charged with a hate crime for throwing Korans into toilet stools. Now in all reality the man charged probably deserves a kick in the seat of his pants, a couple of ruler smacks across the knuckles for his stunt and maybe some community service working for a Muslim Mosque. The action is nothing short of a desecration of a holy symbol. But as was brought up by a blog poster comment on the article; in a nation where burning the USA flag is considered freedom of speech and where religious bigotry such as the Cross in a jar of urine or a rendition of the Virgin Mary covered in dung is considered artistic freedom – his appalling action is not worthy of hate crime status.

The McCain Lament

Another Boomer minute brought to you by theScoundrel. Hmmm, Well it seems that I had too much time on my hands once again. And as I was reading about John McCain’s Presidential woes while listening to my Boomer choices of music (America’s “Sister Golden Hair”) mybizarroScoundrel component produced another need to put my thoughts to the beat of the music. So here is my latest post best read (or sang) to the America tune “Sister Golden Hair”.

Well I tried to speak on Sunday
But my weak polls left me– so depressed
That I changed my speech to Monday
As my McCain ’08 campaign is– such a mess
The moneys is running dry
But I still think that there is time
To save this here President-ambition of mine

(chorus)
Will you send my campaign some money
Send it express or through the air
So I know that you still love me
And that you all still care
Well I tried to slake it
But this power hunger
I just can’t shake it

Well I keep on dreaming stronger
About sitting on that power throne
And I just can’t wait no longer
Can’t ya see my old aged eyes
I am out of touch on immigration
And my popularity still declines
But that does not mean
Being POTUS ain’t still on my mind

(chorus)
Will you send my campaign some money
Send it express or through the air
So I know that you still love me
And that you all still care
Well I tried to slake it
But this power hunger
I just can’t shake it

(insert proper doo waps here)

(Uh Oh, it looks like the early start to the 2008 POTUS Campaign is starting to bring out my more bizarre entity.)

Landing on the Whitehouse Lawn

Caution!!! The following post is not recommended for the easily politically offended. Read at your own risk!

Well the Cubs were busy losing. The storm was driving my dog crazy, who was taking it out on me. I was trying to read about the Edwards-Clinton-Obama desire to exclude other candidates in the debates. My bad eye started to burn. Then Dr. Hook music came on my radio. And the following nightmare began forming in my mind and refused to leave. So to force it out I wrote it down and purged it from my system. I call it howieD and the traveling medicine show’s (hillaryC-johnnyE-barackO) victory march; “Landing on the Whitehouse Lawn” Since Dr. Hook was playing on the radio, it is best read or sang to the tune of Dr. Hook’s “Cover of the Rolling Stone”. A definite Boomer link. Man-o-Man am I glad I got that out of my head!

Well we’re big sock puppet zingers,

And we got stinky political fingers

But we’re loved everywhere we go

We lie about truth and we promise you beauty

Only a few hundred million dollars for our show

We get all kinds of thrills as we deceive you with our shills

To take us to the biggest thrill ride of ‘em all

Cause we want our picture, taken as we hover

Landing on the 9th year-Whitehouse-Lawn

(give the chorus a screeeeech howardD)

I Wanna see my picture taken as we hov-v-v-ver

Gonna Buy a million copies for Pelosi and her luhver

Wanna see my smiling face

As we’re landing on that Whitehouse Lawn-n-n-n-n

(take a solo hillyC)

I got a saxy sweetie-baby named Smiling Slick Willie

Who won’t keep on his jeans.

(give it a shot johnnyE)

I got my Christian hating bloggers

Driving and a Riding my campaign limousine

(everybody now)

Now we all decide to cloud your minds

But your minds won’t really be gone

(try that crown on for size with a solo barrackO)

Until the numb that will set in, when you see MY picture

Landing on the Whitehouse lawn

(Another chorus round guys, Sorry dennyK no reindeer games for you in 2008)

Wanna see my picture taken as we hov-v-v-ver

Gonna Buy a million copies for Pelosi and her luhver

Wanna see my smiling face

As we’re landing on that Whitehouse Lawn-n-n-n-n

(One last verse guys)

We got a lotta gullible Internet groupies

that’ll repeat anything we say

We gotta a born-again-green Goracle

Leading us to greener days

We got all the friends their money can buy

Helping us to buy the golden power throne

And we keep getting richer so we can get our picture

Taken on the Whitehouse lawn

(lets hear that chorus one last time guys, Sorry joeyB your days are long gone. This club is fer new blood and winners.)

Wanna see my picture taken as we hov-v-v-ver

Gonna Buy a million copies for Pelosi and her luhver

Wanna see my smiling face

As we’re landing on that Whitehouse Lawn-n-n-n-n

Can you see that vision guys —> all beautiful as we’re standing in the Rose Garden. Maybe Some Fireside chats. Republicans under our control! Ahhhhh!

Damn It Smiling Billy, you get your hands off my groupies!!

And Goracle you get your faux green booty outta here- ya’ll had your chance long ago!!

johnnyK and teddyK you all get your loser buttocks away from here before you screw up our finally-in-reach wet dream………..

Woe is us!

An incident with the Berlin Germany transit authority brought to the forefront a possible catastrophe facing the World’s public transit and highway systems. There is little doubt in my mind after reading the article, and remembering similar possible destructive incidents involving personal transportation excursions, that if Governments world wide do not address the problem that the human race faces possible massive amounts of casualties. Woe is us!

When a spokesman for the bus company was asked to address the averted potential disaster, they replied that the Bus driver had aggressively addressed the problem for the safety of all. They replied that when the driver had evaluated the disastrous situation and decided that a young womans clothes were displaying too much cleavage to the point of his distraction from his duties, making her move out of eyesight or get off the bus was the best for the safety of the public. No doubt his quick thinking saved many lives and helped avoid a loss in the bagillions of Euro-dollars in lawsuits. Plus his quick thinking and action could help guide other drivers around the world and putting a quick stop to the potential world wide disasters caused by over exposure of womens breasts. I am sure not only I, but the World feels safer tonight for his guidance and actions. Link below:

The X-Files Returns to the Movie Screen!?!

It sounds like possible good news for X-File fans. A rumor is out promising a second and new movie based on the discontinued series that still has a big fan base. It also sounds like the heart and soul of the series David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson and series creator Chris Carter are all on board for the remake. According to a BBC article the script has been written and will soon be sent to the former stars of the show. Of course the real problem will be; can they bring back the magic spark that disappeared during the show’s last seasons after Duchovny and Anderson left to pursue other and less heralded options? The anticipation will be interesting to watch. I remember the clamor when the first Star Trek movie was announced. The hype was bigger than the movie but the Fans need for a Star Trek fix outweighed the need of excellence in content. (Sorry about that quote Mr. Spock.) In retrospect other than the fact that Star Trek returned and hit the big screen the only real attraction of the movie was a very hot and very bald Miss India, Persis Khambatta with one of the leading parts. The second Star Trek Movie, The Wrath of Khan was, and still is, in my estimation the best of all the Star Trek movies. Here is hoping that the new X-File Movie is a winner and does not turn out a stinker worthy of a Raspberry award.

Side note —> I really liked the X-Files but I was a much bigger fan of Carter’s much darker Millennium series. But much like the last season of X-Files they stole the magic and allure from the last season of Millennium trying to appeal to larger audiences.

My Favorite The Wrath of Khan quote and the long since adopted political mantra battlecry of the Democrat and Republican parties:

Khan to Capt. Kirk—> To the last, I will grapple with thee. From hell’s heart, I stab at thee. For hate’s sake, I spit my last breath at thee.

Spending a Billion Dollars Can Be Difficult

It became official this week as Mark Cuban applied for a chance to purchase the Chicago Cubs. I could be wrong, but from what I have heard about Cuban, he sounds like the kind of owner who could help the Chicago Cubs become a winning franchise. The expenses and rewards of owning the Cubs would be extraordinary. With a high team payroll, cost of stadium upkeep (it is an old but storied stadium that will cost mega-$$$ for upkeep) that also includes purchasing a financial interest in Comcast Sports, the team will be expensive to purchase and maintain. The final cost for any purchaser(s) will probably top a billion dollars. (OUCH!) On the opposite end of the gauntlet, the franchise is a cash cow that will make any new owners even wealthier. Cubs’ fans are rabid about their team. And there are a lot of those fans across the nation and even some from countries around the world. If you are unsure about that all you have to do is watch a few games when they are on the road. They are a road team that fills most parks the team visits with a large contingent of Cubby Blue Costuming. And if you carefully look at those fans you will notice that most are clothed in a various assortment of Cubby franchise expensive marketing merchandise, which is probably just a small sample of what they also have home in their closets. (No, you may not throw YOUR trash in my Cubby Wastebasket or wear any of My Cubby caps and garments!!!!!)

Still I am afraid that Mr. Cuban has a long way to go “if” he is allowed to purchase the Chicago Cubs. As I have mentioned before, Major League Baseball Ownership is a closed society. It will be a tough sell for Mr. Cuban, as MLB does not like maverick owners that challenge the system. And it is NO secret that the current Godfather of MLB, Bud “Good-Ol-Boy” Selig, and one of his closest allies Chicago Whites Sox Owner, Jerry Reinsdorf, are not Mark Cuban fans. And before Cuban, or any other would be purchaser, can even think about becoming the next owner of the Cubs franchise they must pass all the MLB secret society popularity votes and then jump through all the MLB secret society hoops while also chanting all the expected MLB secret society mantras. Getting blackballed by current owners is a high probability for a lot of potential owners, especially Mark Cuban mavericks. Who could figure spending over a BILLION dollars could be so difficult!!!

Crime – Terror: Where do we go from here?

My love/hate relationship with technology continues to expand in both directions. Most recently I posted up links that lead to a part of technology that I love, wild life video technology that allows the world to visit wildlife Sanctuaries and Zoos from their very homes. On the opposite end of the same technology spectrum has been my objections to speed cameras that are posted in public that allows unknown individuals to invade my car. Though it is not the invasion of my car ability that I object to but more how the materials captured by the cameras can be stolen and/or misused. It is relatively simple with todays digital photo technology to take an image and fabricate it into something other than what it is. And as I sit here contemplating those issues, I also consider that modern criminal and terrorist events are assuredly pushing us towards an Orwellian acceptance of need for the Big Brother Monitoring Technology hi-tech video safety net offered the public. And as I analyze the pros and cons I realize that the over abundance of cameras in the United Kingdoms (an estimation of around four million cameras government and business combined, or about one camera for every fourteen civilians in the country) has not stopped criminal or terrorist acts. I also realize that if any individual is willing to forfeit their own life to kill one or more citizens that no camera in the world can stop them. But I also realize that the cameras have helped the law more quickly round up the perpetrators that have or have attempted to cause acts of violence and devastation. Most recently New York City has announced plans to bring three thousand public and private sector security cameras to bear on the city to help fight crime and terror. These will add to an estimated seven thousand already in use in the city. When you look at the advantages versus the losses, I am not sure of whether I should be excited about the crime and terror fighting ability or appalled at the possible misuse of the technology for personal gains. No matter my beliefs one way or the other, the cameras will come and work their way into the fabric of society. Plus as they are distributed it creates other questions and answers to be ascertained. First as in a recent Iowa case will be the constitutionality of their methods and use. Also, who has the legality to the information these cameras will be recording? (My understanding is that the information will only be kept about thirty days.) Is this information doomed to be stored for longer lengths of time if it is legally determined that lawyers should have access to the archives for criminal and divorce cases? How are they going to mark and protect the information from being misused before it does fall into some criminals or hacker’s fingers? History has shown the information will fall into other hands. Does this open the cities to lawsuits when that information is stolen and misused? Does this open up the cities to lawsuits when a crime is committed and there is a lack of “proper” response? I am sure there are many more usage questions that will continue to come up as the cameras invade our streets. Perhaps the saddest part is I find myself with less and less objections when I consider the events (murder-kidnapping-property theft and destruction) created by criminals and would be terrorists and their sympathizers. The real question is; where do we go from here?

Critter Cams

One of the things I like most about the Internet is the ability to take trips without even leaving my home. I am particularly fond of wildlife, Zoos and the museum. But I rarely get the opportunity to visit any of those places the last few years. But the wonderful part about the Internet is that I can also visit online through streaming video, the places I probably would never have had a chance to visit under normal circumstances. Links to nature sites change or come and go but they are there to be enjoyed while they last. So today I am posting some links that I like to visit. I hope everyone enjoys the sites.

The Amazon River Cam

The San Diego Zoo Panda Cam

New York Penguin Cam

Australian Wildlife Cam

National Geographic Elephant Seal Cam

Where’s the 2008 POTUS Beef!!!

The early Presidential race has done absolutely nothing to help me make up my mind on POTUS 2008. So far every announced candidate has left me feeling underwhelmed and dejected. Early on, I liked the idea of Obama not being standing longtime in the political hog manure that is Washington D.C., but with his playing kissyface with Dicky Daly and his crookmachine in Chicago and the-absent-formerly-going-to-cleanup-Illinois-politics (as we sound found out in rhetoric only) Governor Blagodabitch, showed me he was already rolling in the stinky Washington D.C. droppings. So much for a fresh face idea! McCain managed to gain some allegiance from me for his military experience, but he lost what little support I was considering when he jumped on the Immigration Sellout of the USA citizens vote. The same could be said for Hillary. I would not trust her face-to-face but she actually was more in charge of the Clinton Whitehouse than Bill-ya’ll-come-up–and-polish-the-presidential-torpedo-Ya-here-now. But she also voted for the Immigration Sellout bill. What little support I was willing to give her is gone. John Edwards has no backbone and in truth he and his $400-dollar-Christian-Hating-Supporter-American-Apologist-haircut reminds me of the “Greg Stillson” character from the movie the “Dead Zone” and has never been in the running for my vote. Rudy, and his – a liberal Republican is better than a liberal Democrat platform, has not yet found a way to convince me to vote for him. Though I am holding the door open for him to WOW me. I am not sure what to think of the possible Bloomberg candidacy as he changed his chameleon spots once again to become an Independent. The rest of the announced candidates seem filler that are not serving up any meat and taters and they all leave the high cholesterol taste of Spam wherever they go. That is an acquired taste that does not excite me. Where’s the Beef!!!!!
