Probable “Good News” for Star Trek and Indiana Jones movie fans! Both franchises have future projects in the production stages. Rumors are flying across the web about both movies. My take on them both is positive, though sequels do not always turnout as great movies. Plus just how good a movie is depends upon the eyes of the beholders. Which can vary greatly among fans. Both are tentatively scheduled for a 2008 release.
The new Star Trek movie is said to return to the original Star Trek characters (Kirk-McCoy-Spock) at an early stage of their careers. Leonard Nimoy is said to have a role in the next movie recreating his older Mr. Spock character to tie into the series. For non-followers of the series, it is common practice for past characters, and the original actors, from the original series to be used to create a continuous tie throughout the series. Possible names are being tossed around as cast members including Tom Cruise and Russell Crowe. I am not a big believer in big name stars in lead roles for the series as it can steal from the story. But a new movie (the first Star Trek Movie was a stinker in my opinion but not many of us fans cared as long as the series was revived) of any sort makes me happy. Woo Hoo!
The new fourth installment of the Indiana Jones movie series has a tentative title called “Indiana Jones and the City of the Gods“. This one is probably the toughest movie to get on the market supposedly because the storyline script has to be approved by Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and Harrison Ford. Rumors have been numerous on this movie also. One rumor is that original cast member Karen Allen would return for a part in this movie. One thing I always liked about “Indiana Jones” movies is they all include nonstop rollercoasteraction scenes that take your breath away. They started out as a B-grade movie exercise that has evolved into a fantastic series. Oh Yeah!
May they be great additions to the legacies and not some stinker doomed for the 99cent video dump bin!
