One Mans Trash is Anothers Treasure

While I was perusing the local progressive gathering place, Quadsville, I came across an article I found intriguing. QC Times Reporter/Quadsville supervisor Melissa Coulter was lamenting about the diverse interpretation of Barack Obama’s State of the Union speech. She queried if perhaps there was two separate dictionaries used for translation – one for Republicans and one for Democrats. I refuse to claim either party, but maybe there is separate dictionaries. Most words have multiple meaning in a dictionary and some meanings are diversely varied in their practice. The same can also be said for people and/or ideologies. The old adage is very true – one mans trash is another mans treasure. I think that adage very much describes how many people heard Barack Obama’s State of the Union speech.

It was evident from the beginning of Coulter’s writing that Obama’s speech was a preconceived treasure for her. She had excitedly laid out plans to use it as both entertainment and a teaching experience for her young daughter. I think that is very laudable notion for a parent. Not so great of an idea for a journalist that uses the event for an article. Coulter went on to express her confusion about how anyone could have complained about what she had perceived as a great speech. A journalist, that makes his or her living from such events, needs to view each political event from a quizzical, yet skeptical nature in order to be able to separate political rhetoric from political reality. It sounded as if from the beginning Coulter had already set herself up to believe in the Obama magical rhetoric. It is a pattern that journalists nationwide have fallen into. When you fall into that pattern, what you have left is Chris “I get a thrill up my leg” Matthews idiocy.

When I listened to Obama’s state of the union address all I heard was hypocrisy and the same false promise campaign rhetoric he used to get elected. Even the AP found fantasy among the Obama rhetoric. I heard him point accusing fingers at numerous individuals for the shortcomings of his administration. He complained about lobbyists and special interests influence in Washington DC politics. Yet he has made allowances to make several lobbyists to become part of Team Obama and special interests like SEIU leadership lead the way in Oval Office visitations. He complained that Republicans are holding up legislation. Yet until Senator elect Brown is seated Democrats will have held a super majority of seats in the Senate and the House. The Republicans have held no power to stop legislation for over one year. Obama complained about partisanship by Republicans. Yet it has been Barack Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi that have been holed up in backrooms creating legislation without allowing input from even opposing views from within their own party. And it is partisan Democrats who seek to use reconciliation as a methos to force feed Obamacare to an unwanting public. Obama decried the Washington DC political scene. Yet it has been Obama along with Reid and Pelosi that have been using bribery and extortion tactics against members of their very own party in attempts to pass legislation like Obamacare. Obama talked about serving the people. Yet it is Obama, Reid and Pelosi that seek to push legislation like Obamacare and Cap and Trade through the Congress – despite the voting public being overwhelmingly against such legislation. He did throw out a few hollow boned words about creating jobs and deficit reduction. Yet his job words rang empty because they lacked specifics about how he planned on increasing manufacturing exportations when our industry has to fight competition from slave labor countries like China. His talk of deficit reduction forgot to mention it would only reduce the deficit about 1%. Plus it would be conveniently scheduled for after the next election – just in case they need to forget the idea. The speech was little more than the same false hope and change rhetoric Obama used to get elected. And the Obama and Democratic Congress actions have been everything Obama decried in his State of the Union Speech. Team Obama – No hope, No change just more of the same tired old Washington DC hypocrisy of politics.

Did Melissa Coulter and I hear the same speech? Yes we did. Did we use different dictionaries as we translated the Obama speech? Maybe. All I can say for sure is that Obama has been long on promises and hypocrisy but short on facts and action. I live in the real world and I can say for certain that until Obama proves otherwise- in my opinion his speech was more trash than treasure.

Obama – I Don’t Quit

On 01/27/10 Barack Obama televised what should have been his first State of the Union address as POTUS. Instead he opted for retreading his campaign speeches. What we got was more of his False Prophet hope and change rhetoric. His speech was an “all about me” and “what I want” Presidential moment. He pointed fingers at George Bush, Democrats and Republicans in  Congress for not acquiescing to his will and even wrongfully vilified the Supreme Court for a ruling he disagreed with. It translated -everybody else is responsible for Obama’s personal shortcomings. Much of his speech complained about everything that is bad in Washington DC politics.  Of course what his speech forgot to mention was – that he was  one of the main villains when it came to dirty Washington DC politics.  His speech was basically – doesn’t everybody know I am the most smartest person in the World and should pay attention to what I say, not what I do.

Perhaps one of his telling statements was – “I do not quit”–> translation: I am the playground bully and will push everybody around until I get my way on the political playground. Becoming proficient at being playground bully  is exactly the reason he brought Rabid Rahm Emanuel in to his cabinet.

Hey Congress – Next Time Call Bill Shatner

According to a CBS article the US taxpayer was stuck with a price tag for over $400,000 for Congressional members two-day stay in Denmark for the Copenhagen Climate Summit. Yikes!   It figured out to over $2000 a day per member for rooming, food, amenities and meeting space. Hmm, I do believe that is way over the normal per diem that Congress allows other government employees on official business. (And even more ridiculous when you compare the per diem allowed for US destinations.) Those costs do not take in to account the travel expenses incurred by the taxpayers for these Global Warming Cultists/legislators. Those costs run the price tag up over one million dollars. Anyone else, besides me, feel like projectile vomiting over this? Not very green of these Climate Green Cultists. Hey Congress I got two Words for you –> Namby Pamby! Next Time Try Priceline Negotiator!!! Maybe Bill Shatner can hook you the taxpayers up with a better deal. Here is an even better idea – play ET – and phone home! A Worldwide Video Conference should have been a lot greener and considerably less expensive for the US Taxpayer as you searched Uranus looking for Klingons. I think this Congressional junket rates right up there with all of Al Gore’s Global Warming Hypocrisies. I suppose Congress figures China can just put their junket/vacation on our tab.

One of the commentors over at Big Government brought up an interesting thought. Congress has been busy villyfying (and in my opinion justly so) the Banking Industry for their waste on hotel conventions following the big bailout. Yet here is Congress wasting money this countrry does not have for expensive hotel junkets. It is just more Congressional hypocrisy.

Less Ordinary News – Hugo Chavez

In the news that mainstream media did not push over the weekend- Hollywood darling – Socialist leader of Venezuela Hugo Chavez closed more media outlets that criticized him. But he was not through making news with that action. Faced with a crumbling economy – Chavez wagged the dog to distract his citizenry from their troubles. It was not that long ago that he wagged the dog by firing up Venezuelans to be prepared for a US attack on his country. In his latest wag the dog episode Chavez has laid the fault of the earthquake in Haiti at the doorsteps of the USA. According to Chavez the USA has a fearsome earthquake machine that we loosed upon the Haitians. Yikes – and yet many in Hollywood and among Team Obama worship Hugo Chavez and his Socialist leadership! Ahh if only it were so that we did have an earthquake machine! We could use it on Chavez’s fat head and see if anything is actually inside.

Wooten’s World – Voters Are Stupid

In todays  QCOnline opinion section, Progressive Acolyte -Don Wooten- whines about the recent win by Republican Scott Brown of the Massachusetts US Senate seat.  Instead of looking at the problem with a realistic evaluation he decides to blame Fox News and “stupid voters”! Standard operating Don Wooten.

He makes the Fox News presumption despite Massachusetts being:

  • a state that the vote/voter has heavily weighted towards Democrat candidates for decades
  • a state where most major news organizations heavily favor towards the Democrats
  • a state where the Republican opposition is considered a weak-sister
  • full of State and Federal political luminaries that came out loudly for Browns opponent – Coakley
  • full of polls that showed Coakley ahead by what seemed insurmountable vote numbers

Now it is no secret that Fox Cable News is full of Conservative and Libertarian opinion programming. However it is just one organization and their opinion programming shows do not go out over the broadcast airwaves. Their ability to reach listeners is far surpassed by the amount of mainstream progressive liberal worshiping media that goes out over the standard broadcasting systems.  As usual, Wooten is reaching for straws with his Big Bad Fox routine. But as is also normal for Wooten, he is just parroting Team Obama. First response to every obstacle to Team Obama is to blame Fox News and/or George Bush for their shortcomings and/or problems.

Wooten’s second method of rationalizing Brown defeats Coakley – is to blame “stupid voters”. Hidden/inferred in his tirade seems to be a belief that Massachusetts’s voters were evidently not intelligent enough to listen to opposing opinion and make the correct voting selection. Yet these are the same voters whom for years have marched into Massachusetts voting booths and pulled levers for the Democrat candidate. Evidently they were just “stupid” in this instance. In his mind the only choice could have been Coakley. Perhaps most telling is his rant/summary to the article ridiculing all voters:

“Have you actually read analyses of the health care bill, or do you depend on what others say? Are you registered to vote on Feb. 2nd? Do you know anything about the people running? Do you take an active part in politics at any level? Instead of yelling our frustrations at politicians, it might be more effective to do it in front of a mirror.”

Translation: unless we agree with his analysis of Obamacare and politics– then we voters are stupid!  In the case of Obamacare, using Don Wooten logic, that would be around 61% of we the  public qualify as stupid. That should be of no surprise as Wooten worships at the altar of Progressivism. And Progressives believe that their opinion is the only opinion and all others should be discarded. Or as progressive cantor Bill Maher put it non progressive-worshipers should be dragged towards progressive ideology against their wills.

In my opinion Wooten did get one thing correct on his story, the Brown win bodes badly for both major parties. Both the Democrat and Republican Party should be shivering in their political boots. In my opinion there is very little safety for incumbents. People are angry with both parties and too many sitting legislators still do not get that message. Like Wooten, they would rather look for an outside source to point fingers at, instead of getting introspective and attempt to ascertain why people are really mad at them.

On a Wooten moment I did not previously mention, I am disappointed in the QCOnline’s editing of his article. Now I understand Wooten is a bitter relic and probably felt he was being “kool” with some of his slang. Part of his rant was against the birther movement and the Tea Party movement. So when Wooten slurs the Tea Party movement by using the word “tea-baggers” I just accept his vitriolic nature as reason for not researching his slang. Or maybe he did but just did not care. But the editor’s job should be to keep up on slang, especially those intended to be slurs, they allow into print. So in order to offer up some insight into what they have allowed Wooten to include as part of their “family” media operation I offer up the following explanation of tea-bagging from the Urban Dictionary:

Tea Bagging  –> When a guy lowers his junk, or balls, onto someones face, or into their mouth, while they are lying on the ground. Resembles dunking a tea bag into a hot cup of water.

Gee wasn’t a couple of local high school kids just suspended for a tea-bagging action performed on another student against his will? Nice job of  “family” editing QCOnline!

Scott Brown – a Stranger in a Strange Land

The voters have spoken and for the first time -in a period that reaches back many years, to a time when my parents were still teenagers- a Republican has been elected to the represent the State of Massachusetts as a US Senator. Scott Brown must feel like a stranger in a strange land. I live in Illinois and do not know much about the man or what he represents. I do know he has stated that he wants to help stop the Frankenstein’s monster aka as Obamacare. That is a good thing. I would love to see health care reform. But what can be gleaned about the two possible versions of Obamacare; are that they are probably full of everything rotten, that Marxist Team Obama keeps saying they do not contain. I have been reading reaction to the election and there is a mixture of everything from hand-wringing from the left to whoops of joy from the Tea Party members. I was reading on the BBC where many of them are pissing blood because they see it as a US voter rejection of their False Prophet of Hope and Change – Barack Obama. Good, I hope it is. Nor do I care if the BBC whiners do not approve.  I do not tell them whom to elect and I expect the same consideration from them. They can go clean-up their own backyards.

My personal take on the election is, I think it brings back some sensibility to what have been Obama bullying attempts at creating foot-in-the-door opportunities for his Marxist visions. I have been saying for a longtime now – one party rule under either political party has been detrimental for the nation. I am hoping that the Tea Party movement will force both the Republican and Democrat Party to work more for the people than for Party interest. For too long both political parties erroneously shout -“mandate”- the moment they get elected. Neither party really listens to the voters. They instead -tell the voters what and how they should think. Polls have suggested that both parties should take the Tea Party movement seriously. I think the election also strengthens that idea. Republicans are just as unpopular as Democrats in public polls; yet, there is now an elected Republican in a very Democrat State. Perhaps the Tea Party movement can shock both parties back into a state of sensibility

Stimulus Fails to Produce

:!: Here is a recently released big surprise: According to an AP study, all that huge sums of taxpayer supplied government stimulus money for road projects – did not help unemployment numbers! Of course the only individuals that should be surprised, are the lemmings following the pied piper tunes played Barack Obama and the Porkulus Worshipers. The opportunities for unemployed Joe and Jane working class citizen showing up at a construction site with their pick and shovel -hoping to get hired to fix your road- are minuscule at best. Those jobs are bid by companies that already have labor pools they choose from. Some are legal workers, some not so much legal.Worse yet – those jobs are very seasonal and the availability is tied to weather conditions.

My guess is that if you want to find the real benefactors from all that taxpayer road funds -you will have to explore numerous government bureaucracy paper trail mazes. My guess is that you will find that much of the money has or will wind up in the hands personal and political friends and family of the state and federal government bureaucrats hired with the money to spend the money on projects. For tips on how that smoke and mirror process works – the researchers might ask Barack Obama’s former Illinois political cohort – Rod Blagojevich. Now Blago is an Obama ally that could probably tell researchers just how to milk all that federal money to keep self, friends and family rolling is all that Porkulus money.

The article I linked to above did say that it looks like the stimulus money did help save some jobs. Of course it also stated that the legislation was so cluttered with provisions that it was impossible to tell what worked, to what extent anything worked and how to replicate any positives there might be hidden inside the bill. Gee you think maybe some Congressional earmarks and legislative bribes might have influenced that clutter, confusion and cost effects? The article does not even go into the insane amount of money spent in the package to create non existent jobs and/or a handful of jobs that paid pennies to workers. If business’ had to spend the amount of money that Obama did -to create jobs – they would go out of business. Too much money is lost among government bureaucracy, when it starts to involve itself in business dealings and/or social programs. Now they want to hand out more stimulus money, plus many legislators are still pushing for a public option insurance program. Yikes! The government is too inefficient when it comes to spending money. There are just too many unchecked nepotism-founded fingers -in the government subsidy pie- to trust them to operate business and social programs efficiently.

Hare Brained Health Care

In an article over on QCOnline, they are reporting that our local political puppet-on-a-string, Congressman Phil Hare (D) said “he expects to support the compromise House-Senate health care bill — provided it is not paid for by taxing the middle class.” He also went on to say he plans to be briefed on the plan next week on the legislations final compromise between the House and the Senate.

Translation: I will do whatever (Hare’s Brain) Comrade Nancy Pelosi tells me to do. No real surprise there!

Sadly I do not see any question from the reporter asking Philobluster, how Philobluster can vote for a piece of legislation formed from over three thousand pages of non-monosyllabic text– that few have read and most will never read, including Phil.  The fact is that of the few that do finally read the bill – none of them will not understand what they are legislating into creation. It will take decades and a herd of lawyers to figure this mess out. Nope the Congress are all buying an expensive pig in a poke with public money because Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid say – just do it. Hare brained health care, the public is screwed.

Happy Birthday Elvis

Today would have been the big 75 for Elvis Presley had he lived. Of course there are those that say Elvis staged his death and still lives on, just out of the public limelight. Who knows maybe the Bubba Ho-Tep movie, with Elvis living and fighting evil  in a nursing home, might have been a documentary drama instead of science fiction/fantasy. Whatever ever the case here is a link to one of my favorite Elvis songs, from his movie “Girl Happy”, also staring Shelly Fabares.

We The People – Ain’t Dead Yet

I have been a fan of Ray Stevens music for a long-long time. After hearing his “We The People” Obamacare tribute on YouTube- I figure it will go down as another classic Ray Stevens great. The song makes you want to laugh and cry at the same time. Gotta love his cap in the video monogrammed – We ain’t dead yet! But in my opinion, the Congressional secret meetings creating  Obamacare are working on that part.

Ray Stevens – We the People Music video

Iowa Republican has the word lyrics posted.
