A Shameful Moment in Christian History

It seems at every job I have held in my 29+ years on this planet I have been involved in quarrels with upper management over organization policy that has conflicted with my code of practice. At times that conflict reached the point I had to choose between the job or my conscious. When faced with choosing a path of action that I knew would clash with company guidelines – I would always remember advice I was given by a manager from my very first job after I graduated High School. The manager was being pressured by upper-management on decisions involving day-to-day  operation of the branch he managed. During a discussion I was having with the man I asked if he was worried that upper-management might discharge him for his maverick approach to running the branch. His answer was simple – “I will operate it the way I see best and if they fire me for doing my job in that manner; that is their prerogative. But I was looking for a job when I found this one, and I will be looking for another when I leave here.”  I found it good advice  to live by. Which brings me to my current “Stupid is as Stupid Does” rant.

A couple in Mississippi planned a wedding at a church they were attending. The event was planned and scheduled with the Pastor of the church. However, some bigoted members of the church objected because the couple was black. The Pastor of the church, then decided to tiptoe around the controversy and conflict by moving the wedding to another church. Now if I were in the shoes of the couple seeking to be married, Charles and Te’Andrea Wilson, I would take heed in a biblical reference; and shake the dust off my feet, as I left the doors of that church and found another offering welcome arms. But I can find no justification for the Pastor allowing himself to be bullied, by a small group of bigoted church members, from performing the wedding in the church of which he presided over. It was his job and his duty. There was no mention of any reason that the marriage was not a blessing to Christs Church. The only reason for any objection offered was the couple was black. The Pastors bending to the will of a handful of bigots and not performing the wedding at the original location was not just a really “Stupid is as Stupid Does”  moment it was like taking a piss on the shoes of Christians around the World. The Pastor would have done better if he had followed the wisdom of my old boss; he should have married the couple in his church. And if someone objected to the way he was performing his job and his duty as the Pastor of that church, find another church that would be interested in the manner in which he performed his job.

Media Bias Still Hard at Work

One of my frequent rants revolves around my belief that there really is no such thing as unbiased reporting. There is just no way to create an interesting story on news or events without allowing personal feelings to creep into the article. The news service Reuters has just allowed personal bias to taint their headline of what should have been a simple story – regarding a national  event. Their title went  “Wife of Trayvon Martin’s killer pleads not guilty to perjury“. There are many ways they could have written that title. But they chose to sensationalize the story with a headline designed to cast a negative/guilty image on the George Zimmerman trial. The Reuters Headline seems to have played judge, jury and hangman on the George Zimmerman trial before it even starts. I have yet to read or hear anything on the Zimmerman trial that sways my opinion towards guilty or not guilty verdict. Yet Media bias is alive and well and hard at work in the Zimmerman trial. And they managed to use a story about the legal  troubles of Zimmerman’s wife, not the Zimmerman murder trial itself,  to attempt to kneecap the George Zimmerman defense. Tainted Jury Pool anyone?

Zonks – A Sign of Times to Come?

According to media sources a third city -San Bernardino- in the State of California has filed for bankruptcy, all within a two-week period. Considering the disastrous state of the Illinois economy under constant mismanagement by Illinois legislators , past and present – are we seeing in California a dark omen for the future of the State of Illinois! According  to the Sunshine Review, as of July 2012, Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka said the state has a backlog of 160,000 bills to be paid totaling $8 billion.  Illinois’ financial situation was said to be worse than any other state in the country according to a study by the National Conference of State Legislatures, with the state’s budget situation called “tenuous at best.” There is an old adage that states -You  reap what you sow. In the case of Illinois that may be true as voters continue to vote the same clueless and/or corrupt  and/or repackaged political clones back into office – at state and federal levels.

The Illinois legislation – long held in an unbreakable  strangle-hold by the Democrat Party- combined with severely-deficient  leadership from both Democrat and Republican Governors has rarely met a piece of pork legislation,  they couldn’t justify passing. Yet the State is in backlog in financial pledges to City and County governments as well as untold businesses. And when explaining away their actions, our legislators resort to Orwellian Doublespeak.  Who will pay for all this financial mess? Why the people most in need; the poor, the needy and Seniors are already feeling the bite. And when creditors finally force push-comes-to-shove, the taxpayers will be forced to pay-up through higher taxes or watch as their financial legacies are devalued through bankruptcies similar to what we are seeing in California. I am also sure that their are lawyers and legislators from California, Illinois and numerous other financially strapped States -currently combing through law books- searching for some type of legalese that would allow them to pursue bankruptcy without calling actually it bankruptcy.

And yet still the voters of Illinois, California and other cash-strapped States will again trudge to the ballot box this fall and vote back in office, political dinosaurs like Michael Madigan, whom will continue to play Lets Make a Deal. The trouble is unless you are part of their closed-nit circle, they are all busy handing out Zonks instead of luxury vacations and fabulous prizes.  And as Monty Hall aptly put it – once you make the deal you are stuck with it.

The Obama Racist Test

Since the 2012 POTUS election is nearing those of us that disapprove of the Obama Baby-Steps towards Socialism Big Government, need to brace ourselves for another round of being accused as racists. It is a huge sport among the far left Progressives to attempt to paint anyone not worshiping the False prophet of Hope and Change, especially the Bush Deranged sections (which is full of bigoted Democrats – whose favorite everyday words to describe minorities -include – using Nigger, Chink, Spic, Wetback, Jew-Boy, Towel-Head, Sand-Nigger etc…)

But to help those whom feel timidity about opposing Obama in fear of being called racist there is a test for you to take, in order to help calm any self-doubt. Take the Obama Racist Test Link!

Andy Griffith Dead at 86

Another comic legend has died. Andy Griffith has passed away at the age of 86. I suppose most people will always remember his comedic charm as Sheriff Andy Taylor of Mayberry or as the charismatic lawyer Ben Matlock, whom like the more stoic TV-Lawyer predecessor Perry Mason, usually manged to solve the case and protect his client by outwitting the real culprit during cross-examination. They were both excellent programs that played to Griffiths southern charm. Of course he did have a movie role in 1957 called “A Face in the Crowd” where he played a character that wasn’t likable. I saw the movie on late night TV once, I enjoyed the movie. But for me, the acting part I will always remember Griffith for – was his movie, “No Time For Sergeants“. In that movie he plays an affable country boy drafted into the Air Force. It also included his Mayberry deputy, Don Knotts, in a small, yet hilarious part. I believe I read somewhere it was the movie that spawned the idea for the television series Gomer Pyle, USMC. The movie has always left me laughing in stitches.

RIP Andy Griffith.

Obamanation – Old Jedi Mind Tricks

Barack Obama continues his quest of baby-stepping the US towards becoming European Socialists using old Jedi mind tricks. The Obamanation hope-nosis continues to thrive upon much of the media and the voting population.

Nothing to see here – these are not the communications you are looking for! Let us pass. Move along now.

There is no actual disturbance in the force. This is not a tax its a penalty. You need to go home and rethink any life dedication towards independence and freedom.

Hope-nosis
