Deadbeat Snake-Oil Salesmen Still Destroying the State of Illinois

The last couple of years I occasionally posted about how I noticed some area medical establishments were no longer accepting Medicaid due to the State of Illinois‘ poor track record in paying those in the medical industry. Recently I was at a local medical establishment and I noticed that they had a sign up that stated – due to the State of Illinois slow payment system as well as their often denial of claims, any  employee of the State, using the State of Illinois CIGNA plan, must pay for all services before treatment, then personally file any claims with Illinois/CIGNA services.  Ouch! Illinois strikes again! And yet the voters continue to keep voting in these same Snake-oil Salesmen whom fleece the electorate over and over again. Stupid is as stupid does and there is a lot of stupid going on in the deadbeat Illinois government. And the silence from the watchdogs supposedly protecting the state and the nation (the media) is deafening.

Hey Buddy Can You Spare a Dime

Illinois State Penitentiary

Statesman taxing States into bankruptcy. As usual our fearless feckless foppish-wannabe leaders from Illinois are right in the thick of clueless activity.  Perhaps Illinois lawmakers could add street minstrels to their job titles. Then they could go out on the street and sing -” Hey Buddy,  can you spare a dime?”

Shhh! It’s a Big secret –>Free Blago Update! Is there any wonder this State is known for political corruption!

Barack Obama equal George Bush Jr. in ‘roid Rage

Christmas is just around the corner and the ACLU has helped the Bush Deranged Obama worshipers unwrap a Christmas present from Team Obama. Obama, the Presidential candidate that has continually promised an open book Presidential White House  – in a declaration that was supposed to invent Obama as the ANTI-George W. Bush/Dick Cheney Presidential Option- also promised “No warrantless wiretaps if you elect me”. The Obama speech was nostalgic  of George “The First” Bush and his “thousand points of light”:

My job this morning is to be so persuasive…that a light will shine through that window, a beam of light will come down upon you, you will experience an epiphany, and you will suddenly realize that you must go to the polls and vote for Barack,” he told a crowd of about 300 Ivy Leaguers–and, by the looks of it, a handful of locals who managed to gain access to what was supposed to be a students-only event.

For one thing, under an Obama presidency, Americans will be able to leave behind the era of George W. Bush, Dick Cheney and wiretaps without warrants,”…

The facts are no matter whether you like Obama Politics (I don’t) or you think he is a False Prophet (my personal favorite) falling slightly below Oriental Rat Fleas on the political value scales of Honesty, Hope and Change: a recent ACLU Report that acknowledges that under Team Obama warrantless wire taps have actually surged. Oops!   Let us consider the Obama tenure.  Obfuscation instead of open book leadership. Turning over Party policy and leadership to Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi creating a hard-left bookend assuring political stalemate upon political issues – instead of his promise to reach across the party aisles to heal the nation. Increased to the point of quadrupled,  warrantless wire taps. Obfuscation of Military operations. Similar Bush Policies on the two wars in the Middle East. Similar Bush Policy concerning the harboring  of Guantanamo Prisoners. Increased involvement of military and political interference with Middle eastern nations. Increased use of unsolicited military force  encroaching inside foreign nations borders. Impulse driven Drone Strikes on citizens and foreign nationals sans judicial arbitration. On and on and on…..

Translation for the Bush Deranged: Barack Obama equals: Not the Anti-George Bush President. No Hope, No Change just more of the same old Washington DC Political Mayhem and leadership.  In all actuality Barack Obama leadership would be equal to George Bush in ‘roid rage. But then what did you really expect from a President versed in unscrupulousness of Chicago and Illinois politics! Our Illinois political leaders are at the top or near the top when it comes to political duplicity.

POTUS Obama Visits Quad Cities Today

Quad Cities -> Stock up extra food, water and necessities today. Lock your doors, board up your windows in hoping to protect your loved one because the Obamaton Zombies will be mindlessly wandering the streets of the Quad Cities hoping to get a chance to drool chunks  in front of the False Prophet of Hope and Change, Barack Obama, whom visits the Iowa side of the Quad Cities today. The word is he will be joined by his wife Michelle. So residents craving Food such as Big Macs, Hardee’s Monster Burgers, BK Whoppers, Sonic Onion Rings, Checkers Curly Fries, Whiteys Boston Shakes, Franks or Wiseguy or Harris or Shorty’s or Happy Joes Pizza etc… should probably make their purchase early so they can protect their food from the clutches of the NYC’s Mickey Bloomberg’s Food Police Queen-Nazi, Michelle Obama. There is absolutely no truth, to my knowledge,  in an unsubstantiated rumor I have started,  that the Mickey Obamas Food Police SS will be raiding the Bettendorf  based Ross’ Restaurant , after learning it was where Barack Obama had scarfed down the heart attack on a plate aka known as a Magic Mountain Sandwich during a past trip into the Quad City area. As Cruiser alluded it in his recent post - Be afraid, be very afraid!

Meanwhile looking a another past accomplishment (or should we call it what it was, another failure) of  President Obama who was going to clean up DC politics; we can see how hard his justice department has been working on the Obama promise of bringing the country together in harmony. After the Obama Justice Dept.  failing to prosecute a case that had already-been won  involving voter intimidation by the Black Panther Organization during an election – the defendants have been busy spreading their wings of hatein an effort to spread further disharmony and increase racial tensions.

In their own words, the Black Panther Organizations preaches extermination of the white race, then dig them up and continue repeating the process.

And  recently Black Panther members from the very organization the Obama Justice Dept. refused to prosecute, were busy promoting violence and proclaiming that “blacks need to  kill white babies “seconds” after they’re born”  — and even suggests firebombing nurseries to do it.

And today POTUS Obama will continue his false hope and change mantras here in the QC to his mindless minions seeking them to help promote four more years of his Elmer Gantry Big Top Circus.  Sadly, Obama not the Great Uniter he claims, but instead the Great Divider may just do that as the watch dogs of a free society. namely the press and mainstream media, have become his bishops and evangelists seeking to protect Obama while hiding the truths of his False Prophet messages. All Obama really offers is No Hope – No Change, just four more years of the same tired old Washington DC politics.

Zonks – A Sign of Times to Come?

According to media sources a third city -San Bernardino- in the State of California has filed for bankruptcy, all within a two-week period. Considering the disastrous state of the Illinois economy under constant mismanagement by Illinois legislators , past and present – are we seeing in California a dark omen for the future of the State of Illinois! According  to the Sunshine Review, as of July 2012, Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka said the state has a backlog of 160,000 bills to be paid totaling $8 billion.  Illinois’ financial situation was said to be worse than any other state in the country according to a study by the National Conference of State Legislatures, with the state’s budget situation called “tenuous at best.” There is an old adage that states -You  reap what you sow. In the case of Illinois that may be true as voters continue to vote the same clueless and/or corrupt  and/or repackaged political clones back into office – at state and federal levels.

The Illinois legislation – long held in an unbreakable  strangle-hold by the Democrat Party- combined with severely-deficient  leadership from both Democrat and Republican Governors has rarely met a piece of pork legislation,  they couldn’t justify passing. Yet the State is in backlog in financial pledges to City and County governments as well as untold businesses. And when explaining away their actions, our legislators resort to Orwellian Doublespeak.  Who will pay for all this financial mess? Why the people most in need; the poor, the needy and Seniors are already feeling the bite. And when creditors finally force push-comes-to-shove, the taxpayers will be forced to pay-up through higher taxes or watch as their financial legacies are devalued through bankruptcies similar to what we are seeing in California. I am also sure that their are lawyers and legislators from California, Illinois and numerous other financially strapped States -currently combing through law books- searching for some type of legalese that would allow them to pursue bankruptcy without calling actually it bankruptcy.

And yet still the voters of Illinois, California and other cash-strapped States will again trudge to the ballot box this fall and vote back in office, political dinosaurs like Michael Madigan, whom will continue to play Lets Make a Deal. The trouble is unless you are part of their closed-nit circle, they are all busy handing out Zonks instead of luxury vacations and fabulous prizes.  And as Monty Hall aptly put it – once you make the deal you are stuck with it.

Caution – Good Old Boy Politics Hard at Work

One of my pet peeves about politics since before my blogging days has been the inequities of opportunity for political candidates that choose not to run with either the Democrat or Republican party bumper stickers steadfastly adhered to their name. And unless you are already a Golden Boy or Girl of either political party -or- you happen to have a political demigod as a champion inside either party; your chances of advancing past the starting point of an election are slim to none.

There was a great example of that during the recent Democrat Primary where sitting US.State Senator from Illinois, Dicky Durbin used his insider political clout to force his former babysitter, Cheri Bustos into the prominent role as front runner as the 17th District of Illinois Democrat candidate for US House of Representative.  Just as when they forced former Congressman Phil Hare into the role – we will never know all the dirty little backroom secret deals that were cut, to position Bustos to win the Democrat primary. If the media were the real watchdogs of Democracy they pretend to be – they would expose the corruption that allows such Good Old Boy tactics; that run wild in both the Democrat and Republican Party. But the Media has long been defanged and pretty much has phased into stenography journalism, where the only reporting they do is regurgitated press releases by the two major political parties. Don’t expect any real reporting or political watchdog protection from the decayed corpse of the media.

Former Democrat candidate Eric Reyes continues to find out just how badly the two parties stack the deck against competition from those candidates that party insiders deem not worthy.  Reyes was one of the original challengers to  Cheri Bustos for US House of Representative seat. He had the actual courage to publicly challenge and expose Dicky Durbin for his bully tactics on challengers to Bustos during the Democrat Primary. He then dropped out of the fixed race to run as an independent. Of course -as talked about in a QCOnline interview with Reyes- Independents find that the Scoundrels and Scalawags comprising the two-party system throws up political roadblocks to competition that chooses not to  run as either a Dem0ocrat or Republican. It seems, while Bustos and Schilling only have to get 600 registered signatures to get on an election ballot – Independents like Reyes, must collect over 5000 to get their name on the ballot. Caution Good Old Boy Politics hard at work – because neither party likes a fair fight.

Stirring the Pot of Legal Shades of Gray

Mug shot of Rod Blagojevich.

Mug shot of Rod Blagojevich. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Okay, so I was reading the articles on QCOnline, by Kristy Mergenthal, covering the trial of the Geneseo woman whom faked being ill with cancer and flimflammed local citizens into donating around a $100,000 dollars to assist her with living. If there is anything that is as sure as death and taxes in my family – it is almost assured that if a member of familial-Scoundrel lives past the age of 50 they will probably face a battle with some form of cancer before they are eventually called home to be with God in Heaven. In these more of familial-Scoundrel tend to win more and more of those battles than they did in past decades. So I have to admit I find it extremely reprehensible that anyone would fake the set of tragic events actual Cancer victims and their families must endure, in order to scam money and seemingly in this case, some sort of broken-wing syndrome for attention.  Still, as I was pondering the story , I was bemused by remembering an old television commercial – (in fact I believe it was used by her current attorney) – talking about how the legal system is many shades of gray.  And despite the fact that were I the judge, I would literally throw the law book at the defendant and hit her solidly in the head with it – before sending her to incarceration along with Illinois Gov.’s Ryan and Blagojevich – I have decided to extrapolate upon the incident in “shades of gray”!

One of the things that seems to be an irritating ulcer on this case is that the defendant lied for personal gain. And if the storyline is correct she told some whoppers.  Uh  not  that doesn’t happen on an everyday basis in the real world. If I had a dollar for every time I witnessed a lie someone used for personal gain I would have so much money I would belong to the 1% of societies well-to-do instead of milling around with the most bottom-seeded of the 99% sifting through the leftover coffee dregs of worlds money pool. If there is a reality of life – it is that people lie a lot, every day.  They lie to strangers, they lie to friends, family and most of all they lie to themselves so that they can rationalize all the lies they have told in order to leap through the rings and hoops of life’s daily obstacle course. I have read several different estimates but most seem to hint that the average person lies four or more times a day. Heck I have seen salesmen/women lie four times in a matter of minutes.  But I guess that wasn’t for personal gain.

Perhaps it is the amount of money involved. Okay that is a lot. But then how is her lying about her health, to gain large amounts of cash,  any different than the panhandling guys or gals holding signs at the numerous road intersection asking for money. Sure they only get a few bucks at a time. And many of them are in dire need of the money they take in standing in the sun all day, while begging. Still, I also remember being shocked by an old newspaper article, from a few years back, where one of the people interviewed was making more annual income standing at crossroads a few times a week – than I was putting in 40-50 hours a week at my fulltime job. So it was certainly evident his homeless signage wasn’t all that truthful. In all honesty some dude annually making between $20,000-$30,000 tax-free dollars a year, with a phony sign, isn’t all that different than what this Geneseo lady is accused of doing for personal gain. Her lies were just more hurtful. But basically her crime was just another form of panhandling.

In fact what is she accused of  – that people don’t shell out $20 or more per person every time they enter a movie theatre. She told a lie. She told a lie that was a story. She created a fantasy that entertained people by making them feel good about themselves as altruists and humanitarians.  Kind of like walking in to a movie theatre except instead of putting mega bucks into the pockets of Hollyweird elitists, some poor woman bettered her life with assistance of would-be philanthropists –> just needing aa cause to rally behind. She evidently needed the money and put it to use to better her family. And how many people would have run to help her if she had just said – hey I need some cash and the milk of human companionship in order to survive.  Probably not many. She would have had better luck standing on Billy Wolf Road with a sign saying homeless – need money to buy food. Of course then Big Brother Government Child Welfare Agency would have been all over her looking for reasons to take her kids.  It’s not like she bilked multiple millions of dollars from Dixon, Illinois taxpayers to build a horse farm or something. Though I am guessing that is something a Government Bureaucrat might do.

I am not excusing what she did. I am not saying she is some innocent victim. Nope she is the perpetrator of a crime not a victim. But when you look at what she is charged with how is her actions  any different than what is usually classified as the public nuisance of panhandling. What makes her crime anymore worse than the panhandler pulling 20 G’s a year holding a homeless sign.  And if we are convicting her for lying – are we next in line for the numerous deceptions we perpetrate on society?  Hey maybe she should have hired me for her legal defense instead of Jack “Many Shades of Gray” Schwartz. I’m no lawyer but I did once sleep and conference at a Holiday Inn – so I must probably be some kind of expert. Nah, she wouldn’t want me as her attorney- I’d still throw the law book at her and lock her up with Ryan and Blago.

That finishes this Stirring of the Pot while playing at Devils Advocate.

Bits and Pieces Seen from the Darkened Shadows

Dark Shadows

Dark Shadows (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

I haven’t been blogging much lately but I have been skulking and observing in the darkened shadows of anonymity that surfing the Internet offers. In my previous post I questioned the decision of the Dispatch/Argus on their changes to their QCOnline formats. So far I have not noticed any unacceptable limitations on my accessing their website, as a newspaper subscriber, other than my previous login no longer works for posting comments on their articles. That is as much my fault as theirs as I have chosen not to re-register a name with their new partners in monitoring their comment section. I have noticed that they seem to have experienced a decrease in their comment sections since the change. When doing a 25 comment search the log often has to go back two days to find 25 comments. That probably means less work for their comment moderators – though I am unsure how it will effect their revenue share for advertisement royalties with what seems a considerable amount of lessened comment area traffic.

I have to admit I am glad the Republican Primary is tailing off – it was getting to be pretty much a sleep-inducing repeat of the Clinton/Obama Political Wars of 2008: sans any birther issue. I can’t say I am a fan of any of the finalists and since Gov. Huckabee (the only individual of any party that truly interested me) did not run; My vote still belongs to anybody but fellow Illinoisan, the False Prophet Obama.

After setting my all-time record length as a Grumpy Curmudgeon, this month, my diverticulosis lessened up enough I took in a movie. I went out to the Moline Great Escape and saw the Hunger Games. I liked it! It nicely combined action with drama while attempting a Rod Serling like approach of including morality narrative as part of the storyline background.

Before the movie there were the usual movie trailers of upcoming events attempting to seduce the theater patrons back for new movies. It looks like another banner summer for Marvel Comics in the movie industry. Their were trailers for two of their comic books that have been turned into movies. The Avengers as well as a new Spiderman release are due out soon. There was also a trailer for the late 60′s soap opera Dark Shadows that has been made into a movie.

Okay, I have been a Dark Shadows fan since the early 1990′s. I was introduced to the original 1960′s series and the 1990′s remake of the original when the Sci-Fi channel first came on the air in 1992(?). For the first several years of Sci-Fi Channel’s birth they played Dark Shadows daily sometimes they played they re-aired the same episodes in the morning as well as the evening. This came in handy when power outages interrupted my VCR recording sessions. I had looked forward to the upcoming Dark Shadows movie when I heard the original rumors. I was less excited when I heard it would star Johnny Depp and directed by Tim Burton. If what I have been reading on the Internet and what little I could tell from the trailer are true indicators – my building dissatisfaction is warranted. It looks as if Burton is turning what was a classic Gothic Soap Opera Drama into a Campy production. That does not please this Dark Shadows fan. Plbttt! It also makes me waver considerably at the idea of choosing to pay to see it at a movie theater, where it will cost mega-bucks – when I can just wait for it to come out in DVD and watch it from the comfort of my home for less money.  I was saddened to read that the original actor that played Barnabas Collins, Jonathon Frid, had died on April 14 of this year.  He along with several of the other original series actors played party guests in a scene from the upcoming movie.

On a blogging note the last few weeks has seemed like Akismet must be running overtime for the load of SPAM I have found in my Spam section of the blog. Much of it from the same loons. What a waste of time for everyone -including the loony SPAMMERs- as the garbage never even sees the light of day.

Quad-Cities Online – Stupid is as Stupid Does Management Decisions

I have previously mentioned that I was a carrier for the Moline Dispatch when I was a kid back in 7th and 8th grade. My parents and other kin had been subscribers for years before that. Some of us still are. Some like myself, even have their Internet service through the Dispatch/Argus’ Quad-Cities Online branch. So I am more than a little perturbed at their recent decision to involve a third-party into the mix. If I had wanted to take the blonde instead of the red-head to the dance, I would have sought her out in the first place.  It seems as a way to increase revenue they have made the decision to start charging for access to their journalism articles. Okay – I get that many whom read the QC Online stories are not subscribers, so they want to get a little pocket money from the readers for their journalistic efforts. I disagree with their thinking, perhaps it will work or perhaps all it will do is alienate non-subscribers whom visit their website and are potential customers for their advertisements.  They will not know how it will effect the bottom line of net revenue until they experiment. But I am already a subscriber to their paper and Internet services. Supposedly this new deal is designed to not effect access for their regular full-time subscribers. However – their decision does effect those of us that are already full-time subscribers. The following is part of the information explaining the new online access requirements-

Beginning Tuesday, April 3, QCOnline.com.com will go to a “metered” system, where users will have access to the full site for up to 7 articles (or “clicks”) during a 30-day period. After viewing 7 articles, you’ll need a subscription to access most articles and our archives.

If you’re currently a Dispatch or Rock Island Argus 7-day print subscriber or have a digital subscription, you get unlimited digital access at no extra charge. Just click  to register and select the “Total Access for 7-Day Print Subscribers ” option.

You will be asked to create a Press+ account by giving an email address and creating your own password. We will link you to a QCOnline.com account number, and telephone number to your Press+ account, and you will receive full access to all content as you are signed in. Once your account has been created, you can log in from any computer. You will not need to enter any card information if you are a current Dispatch/Argus 7-day home delivery subscriber. It takes only seconds and you’re in. Existing digital subscribers should select the same option.

If you are a Weekend-Plus Dispatch/Argus subscriber you can add unlimited online access for a small additional charge….

So according to this information –despite my already subscribing to their newspaper and their Internet service– I must now register with a third party called Press+ just to use the service I am already paying for. Huh! What a large load of BS that is!!! I actually wandered through the registration section and to sign-up I have to register my name, actual delivery address, my phone number as well as my e-mail address to this third-party in order to use the service I am already paying the Dispatch/Argus for. Now that is a crock of stinking $hit, now matter how they spin the information!!! Quite frankly – my name and other personal information is no business of a third-party to my media transactions. It is just one more weakening link opportunity that allows loons to break into your personal information. Plus as always if you read the fine print in the terms of agreement – you are agreeing that Press+ plus is not liable for any nasty results to your life that may come from your releasing your personal information to them. So unless those of us QCOnline/Dispatch/Argus subscribers are willing to gamble their personal privacy on the integrity and security of Press+ with our personal information – the QC Online Internet services will be of little to  – no use, when it comes to reading and commenting on their journalistic labors. I suppose, like other subscribers, my next decision will be to determine how to proceed with my Online and newspaper subscription -especially- since the idea of offering up personal information to a separate entity, than the one I am doing business with, is not a risk I am currently willing to take.  I suppose it is time to weigh my Internet media options.

The Defanged Dispatch Argus Media – She was my babysitter also

In what may or may not be a surprise to residents of the 17th District of Illinois, the local paper – The Dispatch/Argus  has endorsed  Cheri Bustos over her Democrat opponents in the Democrat Primary for Congressman. I would have thought them likely to lean towards a more “peoples” candidate, like Aguilar, though I  am not shocked by the recommendation.  For what some left-wingers like to call a conservative-leaning newspaper – the Dispatch/Argus has seemed overly fond over the last few years of playing hear-no-evil/see-no-evil/know-no-evil when it comes to possible political skullduggery surrounding the Democratic Politburo primary practices.

The old adage states -> fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.  Well certainly when it comes to political reporting the Dispatch/Argus seems to think pretending to vet candidates is accepted practice that the public should accept from their news media.  I am not talking about the standard practice of giddiness towards certain candidates portrayed by the local reporters as they swoon over Obama, Hare and now Bustos. I have stated before, it is almost impossible to write a story without either consciously or unconsciously tainting the objectivity of the story with flowery words and expressions. What I am talking about is the situation that seems to be SOP for local and national media – where they pretend that all is normal and quiet in the political trenches when suspicious behavior arises. It was obvious that something was amiss when Phil Hare was first forced onto the voting public using an end-around maneuver, by then Rock Island Democratic Chairman, John Gianoulis – also a mover and shaker with the now convict Rod Blagojevich’s campaign- over the top of  other possible candidate. Afterward the forced selection of Hare , it was leaked that those that had dared to  challenge the coronation were come down on with political strong arming tactics with their political careers threatened. And our local media watchdogs -whom you would have thought could have smelled a story-  were strangely silent and even kept an innocuous approach towards the RI Politburo and the events that followed the good-old-boy backroom selection process that selected Phil Hare. So you would think that when candidates started falling by the wayside in the recent Democrat Primary followed by stories from those candidates of US Senator Dicky Durbin strong-arming potential opposition to the anointed one by political insiders – Cheri Bustos. Nope – it seems somebody must have defanged our media watchdogs or they are too busy snatching the scraps of green meat being tossed their way by someone with Bustos ties. For very similar to the Hare coronation - the Dispatch/Argus barely mentions it, dismissing it as no-harm/no-foul in their article Primary 2012. Then they  jump on the Bustos bandwagon with little more to offer -than the Durbin reasoning of she was my babysitter- by recommending Bustos because:

As a former elected official in the Arsenal’s backyard and as a former Q-C journalist, Ms. Bustos would seem better armed to fight to protect and promote the Quad-Cities biggest employer and important cog in the wheel of the nation’s military readiness.

Ah once again Bustos is recommended not because of talent – but because they relate to her as a former member of the defanged QC journalist corps and because she is from the QC. Hmm, in reality just another way of the media quoting Durbin’s – vote for Bustos because she was my babysitter. Woodward and Bernstein they are not! Whether the Durbin stench is real or just vaporous smoke- the Shame is on you Dispatch/Argus for your hear-no-evil/see-no-evil/know-no-evil approach to reporting.
