Israel Confirms Syrian Bombing, Few Details

This is a follow up to my previous post on Israel and Syria. In what was one of Israel’s worst kept secrets it has officially confirmed that it bombed a Syrian military installation in early September. There has been much speculation as to what exactly was the mission and what was actually bombed. Rumors have been many including that they were destroying a possible nuclear cache from North Korea, a possible biological weapons cache, armaments headed for Hezbollah to one of the more recent that they were testing the ability of some new Syrian defense capability setup by the Russians. Some rumors are suggesting that Israel was just sending a message that is letting its enemies know it still has eagle eyes and lethal claws. Syria has gone from saying that Israel bombed nothing to claiming they just bombed a military construction site. Both countries are keeping the full information shrouded in mystery. I suppose that is to be expected from countries that have been in a state of war longer than much of the world’s populations has been alive.
